Hey, I’m Dena McKenna, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with teens and adults who are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, ADHD, and the weight of trying to hold it all together.
I’ve been in the mental health field for over 15 years, with experience in both clinical care and program development. Before opening The Key Counseling & Wellness, I spent more than a decade supporting students with anxiety, depression, and school avoidance, and built a therapeutic program that has expanded to multiple sites due to its success. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you untangle what’s holding you back so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence.
I believe therapy should feel like a partnership, not a performance. You won’t find judgment or clinical coldness here. Just honest conversations, practical tools, and a space where it’s safe to be exactly where you are.
I live in the real world too. I know what it’s like to go through messy seasons, to feel overwhelmed, or to question your direction. I’m a mom, an animal lover, drinker of too much coffee, and my favorite places are on the water or in the mountains. I take a holistic approach to healing and believe strongly in the mind-body connection.
I earned my Bachelor’s in Community Health Education from the University of Florida in 2005 and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Florida in 2010.
